ACG delivers at Gediktepe: Artem Volynets in conversation with Mining Journal

At the Mining Forum Americas in Colorado Springs, CEO Artem Volynets sat down with Mining Journal’s William Clarke to talk about what two years at Gediktepe have delivered, and what comes next.

The interview follows ACG’s updated resource and mine plan for Gediktepe, published on 17 September. Volynets looks back at where the project started, an asset with 18 months of gold production left and an unfunded copper feasibility study. He then walks through how it reached first copper concentrate on 31 August.

He also explains how ACG is getting more out of the deposit. That includes new processing capacity for ore that sits between the oxide and sulphide zones, and the thinking behind the company’s recent licence acquisition to keep its heap leach operations running at full capacity.

The conversation then turns to M&A. ACG was founded to build a portfolio of mid-tier copper assets, and Volynets talks openly about why the company has walked away from several deals since acquiring Gediktepe. He sets out what a transaction would need to deliver for shareholders, and why Türkiye remains an area of focus.

“The bar for the next deal is very high. I’m very focused on doing deals for the value. So any transaction has to result in net value accretion per share,” he said.
